The Garden Room — your space at The Cricketers

The Garden Room is our dedicated events space at The Cricketers in Horsell. A flexible, functional and thoughtfully decorated room with its own entrance, an adjoining patio overlooking the garden and play area, and everything you need for a memorable event, from an intimate dinner for 28 to a standing party for 50 in the room, or 120 with the patio.

Whether you’re planning a birthday, a wake, a christening, a work event, or a family get-together, the Garden Room gives you a private space, with the full support of our kitchen and bar team.

The Garden Room seats 28 guests for a sit-down meal. For standing receptions and parties, it holds up to 50 in the room, or 120 with the adjoining patio. The room can be laid out in different configurations depending on what you need — long tables for a family lunch or cabaret-style for a party.

The adjoining patio is included with your hire and overlooks the garden and children’s play area. It sits under a tent canopy that is covered and heated through the winter months, so it works all year round, and in summer the sides of the canopy are raised to let the breeze through. It adds extra space and a lovely backdrop, particularly for afternoon and early evening events.

The room has its own entrance, so your guests can arrive without walking through the main pub. There’s also a TV, Wi-Fi, and sockets available for presentations, slideshows, or music.

Balloons and table decorations are all very welcome. We just ask that you don’t use confetti, and that nothing is taped to the wallpaper.

Garden Room hire is £250 non-refundable. This secures the room for your event and includes use of the patio.

The room is hired by the half day, and it is available from 9am for breakfast meetings. If you need the whole day, exclusive hire is £500 (non-refundable).

We also offer hire of our large umbrella area in the garden, which seats 20 at tables, or 32 with the two garden pods included. This is available for a £100 deposit, which comes off your final bill — a good option if you want outdoor space for a smaller gathering or an extension of a Garden Room event.

We have a range of buffet and set menu options designed specifically for Garden Room events. Choose from afternoon buffets, party buffets, fork buffets, set menus, BBQ menus, or Pizza Feast menus. Tell the team your group size and they’ll talk you through the options.

For more casual events, sharing platters and grazing boards work well. For sit-down occasions, our set menu gives you a structured three-course meal. And in summer, the BBQ and Pizza Feast options bring the garden into the event.

Drinks can be arranged as a tab, a package, or pay-as-you-go — whatever suits your budget and your guests. We’ll talk it all through when you enquire.

The Garden Room is a versatile space that people use for all sorts of occasions. The most common are birthdays (milestone and otherwise), wakes and celebrations of life, christenings and naming days, work events and team lunches, retirement parties, and family get-togethers.

The patio and garden views make it particularly good for daytime events, and because the patio is covered and heated, that holds across the seasons. The children’s play area is right outside, so parents can relax knowing the little ones are occupied and visible.

For celebrations of life, the private entrance and separate space give your guests the quiet and dignity the moment requires. Our team will be sensitive to the tone of the event and can adjust service accordingly.
