Walks near The Cricketers

Horsell Common is right on our doorstep — a brilliant spot for walks year-round. Made famous by H.G. Wells (the Martians landed here in The War of the Worlds), it’s a mix of heathland, woodland, and sandy paths.

After your walk, dogs are welcome in our garden, the Garden Room, and the bar area.

Horsell Common

A short walk from the pub, Horsell Common is a large stretch of heathland and woodland. There are several circular routes of varying length, and the paths are well-maintained. The sandpit — a former sand quarry — is a particular highlight.

Muddy boots and well-behaved dogs are both welcome. The garden is spacious, and we can sort water bowls and treats for four-legged visitors.
