Sunday carveries and Sunday Roasts at The Crown & Cushion
Sunday Carvery and Sunday Roasts at The Crown & Cushion
There’s nowhere quite like Meade Hall for a Sunday carvery. This 16th-century barn — built with timbers believed to have come from Armada ships — stands behind The Crown & Cushion. From September to June, we open it every Sunday for a carvery service that feels like a real occasion.
And if you’d rather eat in the pub, our Sunday Roasts in the main restaurant are served noon to 5pm, year-round. Two options, one pub, and a very good reason to keep your Sundays free. Meade Hall is ideal for larger groups and can be booked for up to 16 guests online, or call us for larger group bookings.
Meade Hall — a carvery like no other
Meade Hall isn’t a function room with a serving counter. It’s a medieval barn with a soaring timber roof and stone walls. Tables are set beneath the ancient beams. Meade Hall is excellent for large group dining and can serve groups from 10 to 60 on a Sunday.
The carvery is served from 12:30pm to 1:30pm every Sunday during the season (September through to June). Multiple meats are carved to order at our carvery unit — Roast Sirloin of Beef, Roast Turkey, Beef Brisket, and Roast Loin of Pork — alongside crisp roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, stuffing, and rich house gravy. Our full main menu is available in the pub too.
Help yourself to the trimmings counter. Vegetarian and vegan roast options are always available, and NGCI choices are available too.
The setting: 16th-century timbers and Armada beams
Meade Hall’s history runs deep. The barn dates to the 16th century, and the timbers are believed to have been reclaimed from ships of the Spanish Armada. The roof soars overhead, the walls are thick and cool, and the whole space has a sense of weight and occasion that makes even a regular Sunday feel special.
Meade Hall is heated and air-conditioned, keeping things cosy through the winter months and refreshingly cool as it warms up outside.
Sunday Roasts in the pub
Alongside Meade Hall’s Carvery, our main restaurant serves Sunday Roasts from noon to 5pm, every Sunday, year-round. The quality is the same: fresh-carved meats, hearty trimmings, and seasonal vegetables.
The pub dining room has a different feel, more informal, more buzz. It’s a good option for families with younger children, drop-in lunches, or anyone who wants the flexibility of the full afternoon service window rather than the fixed Meade Hall sitting.
Vegetarian and vegan roasts are always available in the pub too.
Booking your table
Meade Hall tables are bookable for the 12:30pm to 1:30pm sitting. The carvery runs from September to June, every Sunday. Places are limited by the size of the barn, and it does fill up — particularly in the run-up to Christmas, around Mother’s Day, and on bank holiday weekends.
We strongly recommend booking ahead. To reserve your Meade Hall carvery table, book online via Favourite Table or call us on 01252 545253. Groups of 17 or more, please call.
For Sunday Roasts in the pub (noon to 5pm, year-round), you can book online, call us, or just walk in. Larger groups should call ahead so we can arrange seating.
Who it's for
The Meade Hall carvery draws people from Camberley, Frimley, Sandhurst, Blackwater, and across north-east Surrey and Hampshire. Some come every week. Others save it for birthdays, anniversaries, and family gatherings.
The barn seats comfortably for groups, making it a natural choice for celebrations where you want something more memorable than a standard restaurant but without the formality of fine dining. It works equally well for a couple treating themselves to a special Sunday or a table of twelve marking a milestone.
We’re close to the A30 and M3, with parking available on site.
