Afternoon tea, served from 2pm every day

Afternoon tea, served from 2pm every day

Afternoon tea at Heather Farm Café is served from 2pm, every day of the week, for at least two people to share. It’s £35.95, and it’s the only afternoon tea across the Barons group, so this is where to come for it.

Have it inside the café, out in one of the six heated pods looking over the wetlands, or collect it and take it home. Eat in and it comes with two pots of tea, and there is no need to rush off anywhere.

What is included

Two pots of tea to begin with. Then freshly made finger sandwiches, ham and mustard alongside egg mayonnaise with rocket, and a sausage roll.

After the savoury half come sultana scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, chocolate brownies, and two slices of cake.

One afternoon tea is built for at least two people to share, and £35.95 covers the lot.

Vegetarian and vegan afternoon tea

There’s a vegetarian and vegan version of the whole thing. Just let us know when you order.

If you have a food allergy, an intolerance or another dietary requirement, tell us before you order and we’ll go through it with you.

Full allergen information is available on request. Our food is prepared in kitchens where all allergens may be present. Due to fryers & cookers being used for more than one product, there is a small possible contamination risk even if the ingredient is not present in the dish. If you have a food allergy please let us know before ordering. Where we offer items that are NGCI (Non Gluten Containing Ingredients) we cannot guarantee that they are entirely gluten-free.

When to come, and where you'll sit

When to come, and where you'll sit

Afternoon tea starts at 2pm and our kitchen serves until 4.30pm, with the café open until 5pm. Mid-afternoon, after a walk on Horsell Common, is a lovely time for it.

We’re a walk-in café, so you can turn up and take a table. Inside there’s the main room and the extension. Outside there’s seating for around 120, including six pods that are covered and heated, plus bench tables on the grass with the Heather Farm wetlands in front of you.

Children are welcome all day and have their own menus, so afternoon tea works just as well as a family afternoon as it does for two.

Afternoon Tea Buffet for groups of 30 or more

For a bigger gathering, our Afternoon Tea Buffet runs Monday to Friday in The Lake View, the heated private space with views across the wetlands. It’s £19.95 per person for a minimum of 30 guests, with freshly made sandwiches and wraps, sausage rolls, sultana scones and more.

The Lake View seats 30 or holds 50 standing. Hire is £150 for up to three hours, and extra hours are £100 per hour. We just ask you to leave the confetti at home.

There’s a weekday Breakfast Buffet as well, at £18.95 per person for the same minimum numbers.

Takeaway afternoon tea

Takeaway afternoon tea

You can take afternoon tea away as well as eat it here. It’s collection only, and we ask for orders in advance so it is ready when you arrive.

Call us on 01483 726556 to place your order, pay, and agree a collection time. Takeaway for three or more can be arranged on request, so a birthday at home or a picnic on the common is easily done.

Bringing the dog

Dogs are welcome everywhere at Heather Farm Café, inside and out, including the floors of the pods. Water bowls and treats are free of charge.

The Dog Menu at the counter covers food bowls, Canine Menu chews and other treats, so yours can have an afternoon tea of sorts too. There’s also a paid dog wash with hair-drying facilities on site, owned and managed by The Horsell Common Preservation Society.
