The Jovial Sailor joined the Barons group in 2019 and has been on this site in Ripley for over 200 years. It’s a welcoming, characterful pub with a spacious tent-covered garden that works for everything from a quiet midweek lunch to a full Saturday afternoon with the family.

The Sunday carvery is a highlight: carved meats, all the trimmings, noon till 5pm every week, served alongside our full main menu. During the week, the main menu covers the pub classics, and there’s a Pizza Shack in the garden, open weekends through the summer and available all year round for private events.

Dogs are welcome in the garden, bar, garden huts, Lounge, and Home Room. It’s a short walk from Ripley Green, so the post-walk pint is very much part of the routine here.

The Jovial Sailor has been on this site for over 200 years. In 1598, the lands were acquired by the Boughton family, and the pub has been a fixture of Ripley village life ever since.
