Menus for weddings, parties and Sundays
Every plate at Meade Hall is prepared by our kitchen team on site at The Crown & Cushion. Our function menus are reviewed each year, and the events team will help you match one to your numbers.
Here’s what we serve for weddings, parties and celebrations of life, plus the Sunday carvery in the hall from September to June.
The Wedding Menu and canapés
The Wedding Menu runs to three courses, with starters such as Ham Hock and Pea Terrine, mains including Braised Feather Blade Steak and Confit Duck, and a Chestnut Roast, which is nut-free, among the meat-free choices. Puddings run from Sticky Toffee Pudding to Lemon Posset.
Serve the same three courses to everyone, or pick two of each and let guests choose, with the pre-order due six weeks before the day. The Canapé Menu is a choice of four for 50 or more.
Hog roast, BBQ and stone-baked pizza
The Hog Roast Menu is served from 4pm, with a whole slow-roasted pig, crackling and homemade apple sauce at the heart of it. Sides change with the season: new potato salad and corn ribs in summer, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese in winter.
The BBQ Menu covers beef steak burgers, garlic and herb chicken thighs, herby Cumberland sausages and veggie burgers, with salads and fries.
Our pizzas are hand-stretched and stone-baked. The Meade Hall Pizza Feast Menu is for 60 guests or more, and the Wedding Evening Pizza Menu is served buffet style for 60 or more alongside a daytime wedding breakfast.
Buffets
The Meade Hall Celebration Buffet is the all-rounder: freshly made sandwiches and wraps, home baked sausage rolls, roasted chicken drumsticks, fish goujons and a crudités platter with hummus. Desserts are an optional extra.
The Traditional Fork Buffet is more formal: Roast Sirloin Beef with creamy horseradish, Baked Fillet of Salmon, Home Cooked Roast Ham glazed in honey and a Baked Field Mushroom Wellington.
The Southern-Style Buffet brings mini beef brisket sliders, southern-fried chicken, mixed bean chilli, cajun fries and a sauce bar. For celebrations of life, the Afternoon Buffet Menu starts at 20 guests.
Drinks and packages
Meade Hall has its own bar. The Drinks Packages come in three tiers: Bronze brings an arrival drink and wine with the food, Silver adds a glass of toasting prosecco for the speeches, and Gold makes it two arrival drinks. Choose your arrival drink from prosecco, Pimm’s and lemonade, bottled beer or a mimosa, and champagne is available as an upgrade.
The Low & No Drinks Package has no minimum guest numbers, so book it for the whole party, or for a set number of guests alongside one of the Drinks Packages. It’s built around Wild Life Botanicals Sparkling Nude and an Orange, Cranberry and Elderflower Spritz. Silent Pool Gin, Pimm’s jugs and a tea and coffee station that runs all day are on the drinks menu too.
Meade Hall guests can use the Crown & Cushion bar promotions too, including two house cocktails for £14.95 from 5pm to 7pm Monday to Friday and £4 pints of real ale on Mondays.
The Sunday carvery in the hall
In addition to hosting private events all year round, Meade Hall opens its doors from September to June for our Sunday carvery, with tables bookable between 12:30pm and 1:30pm. Up to 16 guests can book online, and larger groups can call us on 01252 545253.
Roast Sirloin of Beef, Roast Turkey, Beef Brisket and Roast Loin of Pork are carved to order at our carvery unit, then you help yourself to the trimmings: roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and gravy. The Chestnut Roast is our meat-free roast, and it’s nut-free.
Our meat comes from Walton Meats, our local butcher, and Sunday roasts are served in The Crown & Cushion all year round.
Dietary requirements and allergens
Vegetarian, vegan and NGCI (non gluten containing ingredients) dishes run through the event menus, and there’s a children’s menu for under 12s. Tell your event manager about any allergies when you confirm numbers, and check the detail at allergens.baronspubs.com.
Full allergen information is available on request. Our food is prepared in kitchens where all allergens may be present. Due to fryers & cookers being used for more than one product, there is a small possible contamination risk even if the ingredient is not present in the dish. If you have a food allergy please let us know before ordering. Where we offer items that are NGCI (Non Gluten Containing Ingredients) we cannot guarantee that they are entirely gluten-free.
Getting a quote
Our events team are on-hand to advise on menu options, pricing & minimum guest numbers. Send them your date, your guest numbers and the sort of food you have in mind. A discretionary 10% service charge is added to event quotes, and all of it goes to our hardworking teams.
