Pub Garden of the Year — and everything else to match
A beautiful award-winning garden, hearty food, a play area, and a warm welcome. Near Virginia Water in Egham.
The Rose & Crown has been part of the Barons group since 2007, and in 2025 it was named Pub Garden of the Year at the Greene King Pub Partners awards. If you’ve been, you’ll know why. It’s the kind of garden you settle into for the afternoon.
The pub itself dates back to the Queen Anne period — it’s believed to have originally been a detached hunting lodge. Inside it’s warm and characterful; outside, the award-winning garden has huts, pods, a play area, and all-year-round seating.
Sunday roasts run noon till 5pm. The menu changes with the seasons, and all the meat comes from Walton Meats. It’s a short drive from Virginia Water, which makes it a natural post-walk stop. In summer, the garden Pizza Shack serves stone-baked pizzas.

Noon–5pm every Sunday
Generous Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. Meat from Walton Meats, our local butcher.
Dogs welcome
Dogs are welcome in our bar and garden areas. We like to take care of all our furry friends visiting the pub. Water bowls & treats are always available, plus Canine Menu chews can additionally be purchased at the bar. Mention you’re bringing your furry friend when booking so we can seat you in a suitable area.
Our outdoor space
Our award-winning garden is home to all-year-round covered seating, including heatable garden pods & dining huts. From our spacious stretch tent to our heatable Garden Room, our outdoor areas offer a range of spaces, perfect for hosting your event.
The garden has something for all the family, with a play area to keep little ones entertained, as well as dog friendly seating areas throughout so four-legged friends are always welcome too!

The building is believed to have originally been a detached hunting lodge of the Queen Anne period, dating back to 1650. It was Pub of the Year in 2021 at the Greene King Pub Partners awards.
