When summer arrives, the Pizza Shack fires up in our award-winning garden at The Rose & Crown. Stone-baked pizzas, served straight from the oven and eaten under the covered tent, in a garden pod, or at a table in the sunshine. Our garden was named Greene King Pub Garden of the Year in 2025 — there are few nicer places for a pizza in Thorpe.
For something bigger — a birthday, a work do, a family celebration — our Pizza Feast menus are designed for groups of 10 during Pizza Shack opening hours, or 25 or more at any other time. Casual, sociable, and no one has to choose a starter.
The Pizza Shack
The Pizza Shack opens in the garden during the summer months, set up next to our covered tent area. It’s a simple set-up: stone-baked pizzas made to order from a focused seasonal menu. No booking needed — just turn up, order, and find a spot in the garden.
The toppings are generous.
Pizza Shack hours are weather-dependent. Standard summer timings are Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday, with specific times and any extra dates (bank holidays, school holidays) on our opening hours. The Shack typically runs from late spring through to early autumn, weather permitting.
Pizza Feast menus for events
Our Pizza Feast menus are for groups of 10 during Pizza Shack opening hours, or 25 or more at any other time. Whether it’s a milestone birthday, a team celebration, a christening, or a family reunion, we’ll serve a steady stream of freshly baked pizzas throughout your event.
No set courses, no waiting, no choosing on the day — just good pizza arriving while you focus on the people around you. Pizza Feasts can be combined with other buffet options if you’d like to add sides, salads, or desserts. Talk to us about what works for your group and budget.
The garden — award-winning and built for groups
The Rose & Crown’s garden is the setting for all of this, and it’s a special one — named Greene King Pub Garden of the Year in 2025. The covered tent area seats up to 50 (or 85 standing), so larger groups have a home whatever the weather.
There are three heated dining huts, each seating up to seven, with open-air booths in between, plus three heated garden pods that seat six apiece. A covered pergola adds more sheltered seating, and two enclosed play areas keep children happy. Every part of the garden is dog friendly, huts and pods included.
Great for birthdays, work events, and family get-togethers
Pizza Feasts suit occasions that don’t need the formality of a sit-down meal. Birthdays, leaving dos, end-of-project celebrations, family milestones — they all fit the relaxed, social feel of shared pizza in the garden.
The heated huts and pods can be reserved for your group if you’d like your own space, and the covered tent handles bigger numbers. Just tell us what you’re planning and we’ll help make it work.

For the à la carte Pizza Shack in summer, no booking is needed — just turn up during opening hours and order.
