Sunday Roasts with all the trimmings
Sunday lunch at The Rose & Crown runs from midday to 5pm every week, with last orders at 4.45pm. Roast meat from Walton Meats, our local butcher, giant Yorkshire puddings, individual cauliflower cheese, homemade gravy and all the usual trimmings.
Come as two or as ten. There are tables inside the pub and out in a garden that was named Greene King Pub Garden of the Year in 2025, the heated Garden Room can be booked when there’s a bigger group of you, and the bar keeps going until 10pm if you fancy staying on after pudding.
What lands on the table
The roast selection covers meat options and a vegetarian and vegan choice, all served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, giant Yorkshire puddings, individual cauliflower cheese and homemade gravy.
All our meat comes from Walton Meats, our local butcher.
The meat-free option is our Chestnut Roast, which is also nut-free and arrives with the same trimmings as everything else on the Sunday table.
Children's roasts and the rest of the menu
Children’s roasts are available, so the smallest guests get the same Sunday lunch in a smaller size, and there’s our children’s menu for under 12s to choose from as well.
Pub favourites and vegan dishes are served alongside the roasts, so everyone at the table can pick what they fancy.
Veggie, vegan and NGCI (Non Gluten Containing Ingredients) options run through the menu. Tell your server about any allergies or dietary needs when you order and they’ll talk you through the choices.
Full allergen information is available on request. Our food is prepared in kitchens where all allergens may be present. Due to fryers & cookers being used for more than one product, there is a small possible contamination risk even if the ingredient is not present in the dish. If you have a food allergy please let us know before ordering. Where we offer items that are NGCI (Non Gluten Containing Ingredients) we cannot guarantee that they are entirely gluten-free.
Where to sit on a Sunday
The building is believed to have started out as a Queen Anne hunting lodge dating back to 1650, and the deeds first name it The Rose & Crown in 1753. Inside it’s a cosy, traditional pub with warm lighting, which makes a lovely setting for a long Sunday lunch.
The heated Garden Room seats 30 and can be booked when the whole family is coming. The Tudor Room seats 24 and has a private bar area of its own, so it works well when Sunday lunch doubles as a celebration.
Out in the garden there are three heated dining huts (Polly, Dave and Woody) seating up to seven guests each, three heated garden pods seating six apiece, the Stretch Tent seating 50, a covered pergola and bench tables with umbrellas. Sunday lunch outside works across the seasons here.
Sunday with the family, and the dog
Children are welcome all day, every day. Highchairs, colouring sheets and wikki stix are all on hand, there are two enclosed play areas in the garden, and baby changing is available in both the ladies and the gents.
Dogs are welcome in all our garden areas and in part of the bar, with water bowls and treats free of charge. Virginia Water is nearby, so a walk followed by a roast makes an easy Sunday plan.

Getting here and parking
We’re on Green Road in Thorpe, Egham, TW20 8QL, with parking on site and an overflow pay-and-display car park nearby. The Rose and Crown bus stop sits opposite the pub on the 567 route.
Virginia Water station is about three minutes by car or a 20 minute walk, and Egham and Chertsey are both around seven minutes’ drive. Thorpe Park is nearby, so we make a natural stop on the way home.
Access is step-free from the car park into the main bar, where a number of tables are step-free too, and the double doors at the main entrance can be opened wide. We’re in a listed building, and we’ve made every adjustment we can within it.
