Pancake Day!

Pancake Day!

Flippin’ ‘eck! It’s Pancake Day already!

How to make Pancakes!
You’ll need:

  • 110g/4oz plain flour, sifted
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml/7fl oz milk mixed with 75ml/3fl oz water
  • 50g/2oz butter melted
  • caster sugar
  • lemon juice
  • lemon wedges
  • Your favourite ice cream
  • Chocolate sauce (yum yum!)
To serve:
keep it simple with lemon & sugar – or go large with ice cream and chocolate sauce!
1. Put the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl and make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it.
2. Whisk the mixture.
3. Gradually add milk and water a little at a time, and whisk untill the batter is smooth  (don’t worry about any lumps as they will eventually disappear as you whisk).
4. Spoon 2 tbsp of the melted butter into the batter and whisk it in.
5. Grease the pan with a little of the remaining butter.
6. Get the pan really hot, then turn the heat down to medium and pour in about 2-3 tablespoons of batter.
7. Cook for 30 secs or so before lifting the edge with a palette knife to see if it’s tinged gold as it should be.
8. Now for the fun bit! Flip the pancake!
9. Cook the other side, then serve onto a warm plate.
10. Adorn your pancake as lavishly as you like, and enjoy!
11. Repeat until all the mixture is gone!
Alternatively, of course, you could just come to the pub!  We’ve got Pancakes as our Hot pudding of the Day!
Happy Pancake Day!
